FEROBIDE is a weldable tungsten carbide composite material that combines high wear resistance with the lightness and reliability of a weldable material.
The unique properties of FEROBIDE close the gap between conventional tungsten carbide, which has to be brazed, and weldable materials, which have a significantly lower wear performance.
FEROBIDE is ideal in situations where welding is not possible and for applications with sliding wear. FEROBIDE is used in critical applications in various industries such as agriculture, separation, mining, mixing, mineral processing and road maintenance.
Welding guidelines
The material is available in a range of standard tile sizes. Customised products are available on request.
● Do not fit to leading edges in high-impact applications
● MIG / stick welding, 120 amps
● Do not TIG weld
● Clamp the tile firmly, if one end curls up, the tile will tear
● Tack the centre of the tile length if required; weld from the centre outwards
● Avoid excessive heat input to the tile and use fast welding passes
● Do not fix the tiles with an unsupported overhanging section
● Do not quench after welding
● If there is a risk of weld seam erosion, bevel the host metal to hide the weld seams
Full PPE and dust management is required when welding.
