PTA-coated mulcher flails
The PTA process is a high-performance thermal coating process. A high-energy plasma arc melts the surface of the base material. At the same time, the metal powder is introduced into the arc where it too is melted. PTA enables coating with high-alloy materials such as tungsten carbide-reinforced nickel-based alloys or cobalt-based alloys. The result is a material connection between the coating and the body, with a comparatively low heat input. As a result, the base body retains its hardness during the coating process. This strong and wear-resistant connection helps the GRANIT mulcher flails retain both their shape and their sharpness, even over long periods of use. If the machine is used as intended, the service life can be expected to be extended by a factor of 3-5.
